This program focuses on diverse musical activities to help participants: - Learn basic social and communication skills and apply them in daily life. - Express their emotions through appropriate channels (music) and develop foundational “emotional regulation techniques”. - Enhance listening skills as well as self-awareness in order to control their impulse and to make better decisions. - Improve level of concentration or attention span. - Cultivate “auditory sensitivity” and foundational skills for future music learning. Class Experience: Students would be offered to try out different instruments (e.g., guitar, drums, handbells) and be encouraged to use their preferred instruments to interact musically with peers. Under the therapist’s guidance, they will learn to coordinate with others to play various musical pieces together. Beyond musical enjoyment, this program also provides a platform for children to: - Recognize and appropriately express their emotions/feelings. - Develop self-awareness through rhythm-based activities, using listening skills to understand expected behaviors.
